The "Eagle Has Landed" Post – Culmination of the 10-Day Countdown to the Landing Campaign

Social Media Content
Campaign Landing Page & Original Blog Posts
My assignment was to create a social media campaign to celebrate Apollo 11's 50th Anniversary, highlighting pitch content created by our news and editorial team.
Tactic: RPI has a strong legacy in space including: George M. Low ’48, manager of the Apollo Spacecraft Program (known as the man who put man on the moon), Deputy Director of NASA, and RPI's 14th President; three astronauts; the first space tourist; many alumni working in the aerospace industry, strong legacy of space-related research, and current space research. There was a wealth of content to sift through in a short amount of time. I decided on the "countdown" concept that over the course of 10 days would highlight the theme of RPI's space legacy – past, present, and future. I focused on three types of content: throwback content (events, research stories/video from past year) and new content created by news department, new space-related press release timed for the anniversary, and two new blog posts that I envisioned. Additionally, we created a landing page for the content on our blog site to centralize our content for our audiences.
Roles: Project Manager, Producer, Content Creator, Graphic Designer
Deliverables: Social media posts, landing page with new content, blog posts
Results: Most successful social media campaign to date. Team and audience had fun and felt the pride for RPI's legacy in space. It isn't often we get to be part of "pop culture" as an institution!
